MDP Company Dancers

Placement in routines is based upon dance ability, attitude, attendance, and performance skills. ALL pee wee competition dancers must take ballet and jazz. All other competition dancers must take ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, technique. Competition dancers will practice throughout the week and on Sundays. Other rehearsals will be scheduled as needed. On the tuition schedule, competition counts as one extra hour regardless of how many hours of competition practice you have. The cost for a competition solo is $150.00, which must be paid by the first competition solo practice.

Welcome to the MDP Company! A lot of fun, hard work, and commitment await you. The following are some Competition Team Guidelines that all performers must follow.

Competition requires time, talent, dedication, and regard for each other as "team members." Competition should bring out the best in a student, develop personality, character, perseverance, and foster friendships. We urge each performer to do the best he/she can.

That is the real "win." Each student should compete against himself/herself. We do not want to critique others, but concentrate on improving our own capabilities and talents. All rules will be strongly enforced. Anyone failing to comply by the rules will be subject to expulsion from any competition piece.

REMEMBER

1. YOU ARE VERY IMPORTANT

2. YOU ARE NO MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYONE ELSE.

Forget negativity, gossip, put downs, destructive criticism, and cliques.

The studio’s good reputation in our community and beyond is a reflection of our conduct!

3. All decisions are subject to Ms. Brooke’s and Ms. Jenny’s discretion in this contract.

4. For concerns regarding PeeWees, Minis, & Juniors, please see Brooke. For concerns regarding Seniors, please see Jenny.

Basic Criteria:

• Competition Team Members who sign this contract are agreeing to a "one year commitment" to the group.

• Performers and parents, please know it is your responsibility to check the bulletin board & email for upcoming events and

important information. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call or email.

A competition team is a TEAM. Just as sports teams require all players to attend practices, a dance competition team requires its performers to attend classes and rehearsals. Absences will hold back not only the individual performer, but the whole competition team.

Financial

Tuition for competition team members will vary depending on the amount of classes. Competition entry fees vary depending on the size of the group and which competitions we attend. The fees are per person and must be paid in advance. Fees are approximately $35 per performer/routine/competition. (Solo, duet, trio fees are higher).

Fundraisers

If parents are interested, we will do several fundraisers to help you offset the costs of costumes, classes, conventions, and competitions.

Cookie Dough Sale

Company Dancer Yard Sale

Program Book Ad Sales – We will begin ad sales in January; 40% of each ad a dancer sells will go towards competition fees.

There are NO refunds on any fees, tuitions, costumes, fundraisers, and competition fees.

Ending Notes for Parents:

Competition is a fun experience for both the performer and the parent. Don't let yourself get stressed out. Keep things in perspective. Winning a trophy is not the most important thing; being in the front line is not the most important thing; the number of routines you are in does not matter. What matters is the enjoyment and growth of our dancers! Competitive dance is an amazing opportunity for performers to grow and learn because it makes performers reach goals they never thought possible. It gives performers a sense of unity and teaches them hard work and discipline.

MDP is a place for performers to reach their full potential, but this can only happen if we work as a team striving for positive energy!
